Company History

The Clawson Group has been doing business as Mortgage Bankers specializing in commercial real estate services since 1979.  John A. Clawson together with his son John (JR) A. Clawson, Jr. organized the business. JR became the primary principal of the company in 1991 and co-owner in 1996 at the retirement of John, Sr.  In August, 1997, John (Johnny) A. Clawson III, joined the company supervising all servicing functions and commenced loan production working with his father.  Within a year, Johnny took over his own accounts and has consistently been a top producer.  In 2006, Johnny became the President and CEO of The Clawson Group.  JR remains the Chairman of the Board and is very active in the daily activities of the company as well as continued loan production.

In January 1997, Craig Rowe joined The Clawson Group as Senior Vice President and Partner of the Idaho office.  Also joining the company in January, 1997 was Brent C. Davis bringing 29 years of real estate expertise to the company.  The Clawson Group added another associate, James (Jim) L. Robertson, in 2000.  Jim brings 15 years of commercial real estate experience to the company.  In 2007 Rob McDonald joined The Clawson Group as an associate.

Through a selected group of lenders and investors, including among many others, Aegon, USA, American Equity Life, Ameritas Life, Columbian Mutual Life, Farm Bureau Life a Protective Life, Thrivent Life and Aviva Life the company provides a wide range of financing alternatives.  The Company tailors financing packages to meet the specific requirements of each property while providing sound investment opportunities it’s broad base group of lenders.

The company serves it’s clients on a national basis while continuing to focus on the Mountain States. The Clawson Groups principal office is located in Salt Lake City with additional office in Boise, Idaho.  Our main office  in Salt Lake City, where all underwriting, processing and lender selection are coordinated. The company’s experienced underwriting, processing, closing and servicing team give quick response to both our clients and lenders resulting in a very high closing rate of exceptional loans.
